I'm not proficient (or prolific) at keeping up with social media. But I'm going to try to add some xmas carols - arranged to be in standard ballroom & latin dance styles - to my website:

My entry for the latest contest at Spoonflower is a fantasy adventure story in graphic toile (rather than novel) form. It's a re-arrangement of something I originally drew for a convention magazine (to fit around the text on successive pages):

There's a Mad Science project waiting for @thephilfoglio.bsky.social or someone else to have a crack at after Trump posted an AI image of him cosplaying with a red lightsaber (ie marking him as an evil Sith type, destroying democracies to enforce an authoritarian empire).

{ There were a lot of points to fit into this one. So it's long and, while it scans, the rhyming scheme is rather variable. }

#LGBTQ

Help the misfits in the world
who must keep their colours furled
when they should be standing proud,
free to name themselves out loud.

Coffee or tea?
What will it be?
Maybe the answer is neither.
Water or milk,
things of that ilk
Can be much better than either.

Today's challenge was to write an epitaph; but they didn't state that it had to be for a person:

Born of hope, died of spite;
Now it is an X site.

It looks like there's some sort of #Invertefest going on. Sometimes I feel the need to tessellate (crustaceans, bugs, whatever), eg:

Spring:

An old folk measure of the spring
was in the daisies it would bring
and just how many could be found
within one footprint on the ground.

Once upon a time a word
was only something someone said.
Stories told were always heard
or drawn in picture form instead.

Then those pictograms in time
became a form of written sound.
Oral history in rhyme
replaced by records passed around.

The topic for today from the shared list was Earth. I don't know why they didn't put that for Earth Day (22nd April)! But that's where we are now.

Singing

Can you hold a tune at all?
Pitch control, its rise and fall?
Next the timbre of your voice
Could be an important choice.

Can you keep on time throughout?
Breath control, project don't shout?
Then enunciate each word
So that you'll be clearly heard.

Honest

"Honest as the day is long"
Doesn't mean they do no wrong.
What about the hours of night
When most things are out of sight?

As the year turns do they change?
Is there then a matching range:
Very good in summer sun;
Bad once winter has begun?

Language:

When you know the words to say
it still matters in which way
they get ordered, emphasized,
accented and improvised.

Circus:

Live performance, ancient show;
Acts that generations know.
Feats of daring, feats of skill,
Strength, dexterity and will.

Today's topic was kite. Is it a bird, a plane or a children's toy? I'm ruling out superman.

* * *

Rising, soaring, flying high;
Twisting, turning in the sky;
With winds roaring all around;
Blithely spurning solid ground.

Giggle, chuckle or guffaw.
Roll around upon the floor.
Laugh out loud or hold it in.
Snigger, chortle, smirk or grin.

Garden

Kitchen garden - enclosed space
planted as a growing place.
Keeping nature as a pet -
groomed but not quite tamed as yet.

Hydroponics is the way
when you don't want plants to stray.
More extreme than even that:
growing foodstuffs in a vat.

= rainbow

Life is not just black and white;
nor is it in shades of grey.
There's a spectrum of pure light
and effects from interplay.

Much of it is out of sight
from the human point of view;
but, if you observe them right,
rainbows teach a lot to you.

Strum a chord or pluck a tune,
learn a riff or improvise.
Twinkle Twinkle, Clair De Lune
or a symphony surprise.
