There is a very strong sense that no-one cares, but also that no-one is computing, at least in public.

The admin jobs market is going to be flooded at a time when AI is increasingly taking over certain roles. All this let alone the costs of unemployment benefits, loss of tax revenues etc. Ditto in UK academia, and of course in the DOGE cull in the US.

Yes but much as I appreciate your research and writing there is a problem - journalists and politicians may be able to claim their subs as expenses but the rest of us mortals don’t have that luxury so my reading is severely curtailed by the Substack model. The subs pile up in subscription culture.
