You keep talking about critical thinking while refusing to think critically about a simple question: why send a C&D when he wasn't identified, unless there's at least some truth to it?

False allegations do happen. If a false story surfaces without identifying the perpetrator, though, it doesn't make sense to preemptively assume that it's false and it's about you specifically. Could be about someone else you don't know about. So why have a lawyer send a C&D in that case?

Your hypothesis doesn't make sense for what we actually saw: the video didn't identify him, so why would he assume it's about him unless there's some truth to it? Why would he involve a lawyer immediately when people wouldn't have known it was about him otherwise?

I don't think the hero-worship is as serious as it seems.
The left is painting him as right-wing and the right is painting him as left-wing, so clearly neither side of the political spectrum wants to be associated with him.

They have to believe that anyone who's traditionally successful clearly cheated or lied to get there, because otherwise they'd have to look critically at their own lack of success.
