Safari controls helpfully move out of the way to expose an empty, fixed-size, opaque box when not in use.
Probably because I turned off transparency, but with it enabled nothing is visible/usable, which is even worse.
All Android has to do now to win me back is leave their UI alone.

Ah, thanks to @loomy.bsky.social and @killn1.com I was able to discover that preferring cross-fade transitions is the cause.
I’m the guy who disables animations on Android entirely using developer mode. So of course I’d have this on in iOS.
Bummer the only options are jitter or slip-n-slide.

iOS 26.1 has reached Release Candidate status and is still awful. Apple is not the company they once were.
