Every few months I scour the internet for the first skateboard I had when I was maybe 5-6 years old: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle single kick, orange deck with rails and a skid plate. I swear it had two handles on it as well. Patches of grip tape to look like a turtle shell.

When I think about what began to radicalize me it was being harassed by cops for skating in parking lots and basketball courts in the late 1990s.
