Postdoc at UC Irvine. Interested in how and when muscle modulate work during dynamic locomotion. Human rights are essential. I really only tweet about one of those things regularly. Let’s try this out.
First time using my @birdbiomech.bsky.social mug creation. (Ignore the giant strips of wall that my husband pulled off while trying to move shelves)

This is for unincorporated Flagstaff, AZ. Some places where you have to haul your own water, not be connected to a sewage system, homes that used to be hunting camps that have no foundation, and not be able to vote in elections for the town. Is it so hard to agree that $700k + for that is crazy?

Feeling the imposter syndrome hard today, but Sebastian says “don’t pay attention to that, just pay attention to me”.

Look at my academic children presenting their project for our IMSI (@movementscience.bsky.social ) summer research capstone symposium. They did a great job discussing our experiments aimed at validating model assumptions in MTU estimates from joint- and tissue-level measurements.

My academics work wife became a doctor yesterday! Celebrate, even though she doesn’t have any social media.

Teenage me: “That character is so old and unattractive.”
Adult me: “Holy poop- they were a looker.”

Gotta keep my husband informed of the frontline action regarding the war over pooping placement in the yard while he’s out of town.

Today 13 years ago, I made a random post on Facebook about my full time career job hiring people. Then my husband applied. Now here we are, both with PhDs at academic jobs. Life is random, but sometimes cool.

Finland is the exotic Midwest of the US without any air conditioning. Beautiful, but sweaty.

When you finally collect data from an experiment that has taken four months to perfect, but have to go home and analyze it and put it in a presentation for a conference you are going to next week. "Graps.jpeg" is as good as the file name gets. Future me is going to be pissed.

Uh- thought I was crushing it during cycle today. Only to find out 90% of the class was crushing it harder.

Over the last 3 weeks we traveled Long Beach > AZ > TX > STL > Chicagoland > Nebraska > CO > Utah and are headed home again today. Academic paths can feel isolating, but this trip reminded us: the world is wide, the land is varied, and it’s full of people we love. That matters most.

Having a stalker wasn’t great, but it did teach me to shoot- which felt necessary in a state where guns are sold next to used blenders at garage sales. The upside? I can clear the whole red star at carnival booths with their BB guns. Walk away with whatever I want. Never saw me coming.

Rained last night, rained this morning, going to rain the whole rest of the drive through Illinois. It’s definitely giving Midwest vibes today.
