I will be sad if Bill Nighy has nasty skeletons in his closet like some other long term celebrities.
I now have the urge to rewatch Love Actually and maybe Pirates of the Caribbean...
Well I was not expecting BILL NIGHY to be spitting facts today!

Australians don't like foreign corporations hurting the Australian environment.
Probably the only time that Australian "tall poppy syndrome" and mild xenophobia is potentially not entirely shit.
Google and Amazon have both ramped up their public relations campaigns on AI.

Remember when Qantas used to have a good reputation as an Australian airline?
That was last century.
Opinion | In light of the call to shut down Qantas' bases in Hobart, Canberra and Mildura, one insider told Crikey, “pilot morale is at an all time low...and that’s after Alan Joyce.”
Staff be damned, yet again, as Qantas announce brutal decision to close more bases

"... a fantastic example of a corporation with rapidly rising climate & environmental impacts that aims to deal with them not through traditional greenwashing, but through a subtle & complicated sabotage of how impacts are measured and reported; far more nefarious than anything we’ve seen before."
Meta is panicking about its corporate emissions, which are skyrocketing thanks to the energy needs of its data centres. So it's found a way to "adjust" the numbers it reports.
How tech companies are redefining reality: Meta's truly bonkers emissions

You know that sudden cervical radiculopathy is bad when a GP you've never met before at a clinic with "don't ask us to prescribe opiates" signs immediately offers such a prescription:
"have you had codeine before? Any problems?"
"Ok have a script, take with paracetamol & ibuprofen if you want"

> When it comes to AI — the other big, existential threat to news journalism — it’s a similarly nuanced picture. The headline is that Australians are becoming more comfortable with AI-produced news, but the “how” matters. 1/2
The 2025 Digital News Report found "legacy" outlets and journalists rank as the top news source on all social platforms. What does it mean for an industry in flux? @crystaljane.bsky.social writes.

The Distler trait of having to google "how to rest when I have a cold" because even when I'm not physically active, I'm mentally active (reading articles, learning, etc.)

Being "high functioning" is bloody exhausting.

It genuinely scares me that most office workers I know are somewhere between the third and fourth stage via a combination of easily managed organisational & individual factors

I wonder if the Psychosocial Hazard legislation in Australia will result in a Psychological toxicity PEL 🤔
If so, would it be too on the nose to hang toxic hazard signs in certain workplaces with a culture problem?

As I repeatedly tell everyone who will listen to me regarding health and safety, the fact that we as a society require "do not drink" warnings on bleach bottles is evidence that "common sense" is the workplace C-bomb: rarely ever heard or seen in most places
