Having both quantitative and qualitative researchers (and so many sociologists!) weigh in on a core topic like demography and reproduction really illustrates how to make sense of these larger trends—their causes, their effects, and how people live through and experience them. Be sure to read this!

I worked on this Focus issue during my time @naturecities.bsky.social, and this Editorial @nature.com brings the insights from academics and policymakers in urban spheres into a wider audience. We need more research to know exactly what smart means and its effects on many populations.
