A good flag fosters civic pride, engagement, and love. Seattle does not have a good flag. This is an officially unofficial account. Vexillology and vexillography.
Buff is a great color for flags. There are some washed-out examples - the field of the flag of the State of New Jersey is supposed to be buff!

Buff is for personal liberty, representative democracy, and the rule of law. Be BUFF.

Buff is amazing color. It is a rich and warm gold, the color of a summer sunset on warm rocks or a distant mountain.

Buff was also adopted as an official color of the Whigs in old Britain and the Whig Party in the US. Buff is associated with liberalism writ large. What's up with that?

After a reactionary majority backed by NIMBY water view landowners was elected to the Huntington Beach city council in 2022 - sound familiar, Seattle? - they put an issue on the ballot to ban all flags except go't flags on gov't property. It passed, 22% turnout, 58% yes. Enjoy your city flag, HB!

Spotted: a design proposed by successful vexillographer Brad Lockhart, Vsq.* to replace the SOB official Washington State flag. It's in a prominent spot but without any wind, a petard situation would work better.

The astonishing ubiquity of the Bellingham (WA) flag is matched only by the variations that proud Bhamsters apply to it. One of the most common variants is the Bellingham Ppride flag, here flying jauntily in the breeze

Cities: get yourself a flag that makes the side of a garbage truck look [low whistle] *good*

For your viewing pleasure* here is a bit of a closer look. A corporate logo on a dark blue field. So utterly banal as to fill the soul with gibbering dispair.**

Speaking of terrible terrible flags [ahem], one of our team ran into a surprise: the city flag of Everett, in the wild!

Unfortunately (or, rather, fortunately), webwere unable to capture a quality picture in the mild breeze.
