My major beef with Ethiopian is their obstinate refusal to repackage their social food culture into fast casual. How dare they not allow me to order a personal size injera without making human contact and then eat it alone as fast as I can?

And maybe he would sometimes think about what it would be like to be me. To have failed as much as I have. And I can almost imagine that instead of being disappointed he'd feel the compassion I can't feel for myself.

I'm trying to do this sort of loving-kindness visualization practice where I imagine an alternate me, struggling worse than I am now. Instead of being disappointed, I try to feel compassion and sit with them.
And similarly maybe it's possible to imagine who I think is a better version of me ...

I slipped up this weekend and let myself buy some physics/software engineering books I wanted on subjects Ive always struggled with. When I see them on my desk now, I feel some imagined disappointment of the people who believed in me when I was young. I can't recover from my burnout like this.

I don't find that anyone who uses the term is acting in good faith. Is the term anything more than a rhetorical slander?
