one of the coolest things about ChatGPT is how you can actually just never use it. you can fill your whole entire life with simply not once using it. it's incredible.

Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

It’s also got way more in common with the Epstein scandal than you really want to know.

A very sobering and worthwhile read and, yes, somewhat ironic to post here.

I've definitely reduced my social media time drastically in the last years, but maybe I need to do more reducing :\

College radio stations are seeing a surge in student interest.

Stations that once struggled to fill airtime are now overflowing with student DJs.

I spoke to 7 college radio stations across the U.S. to understand what is driving the revival:

Macron remarks are notable- some quotes: "We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."

We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks.”

We laugh at this shit -- I mean, how can you not? -- but it's serious: these guys want to infuse reactionary thinking into AI and then infuse AI into every nook & cranny of American life. They can't win the argument so they are trying to blunt-force their views onto us with money & power.

Honestly folks.

The bluster & bullying & “how dare they say that?,” & silencing, & censoring?

It’s weakness x 10.

If you’re really strong, jokes don’t matter.

Only if you’re banking on fear to give you power do jokes matter.

That’s why authoritarians HATE being poked fun at.

No fear=no power.

Arguably one of the greatest shortcomings of today's intellectual environment is the widespread failure to understand how digital power works.

You can reclaim a bar/town hall/public square by showing up. You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT do that with a digital platform.
And it's the same nonsense that has already been published by a dozen others, self-justifying why they're helping a platform run by someone who is contributing to the destruction of so much of the current world.

It actually argues that staying there is important to "take it back."
