Climate scientist studying methane dynamics in coastal wetlands. Especially interested in methane, isotopes, and methylotrophic methanogens. Postdoc @ Uni Münster
Pinned
I'm a #biogeochemist and #microbial #ecologist focusing on #methane cycling in #coastal #wetlands. I'm currently in #Germany, working as a #postdoc at Uni Münster in the TRICMA2 project, focusing on carbon cycling in #salt #marshes. #WomenInSTEM
It's been a long time, but I was able to do some of my own #FieldWork in a Sylt #SaltMarsh a couple weeks ago. We tried installing some dialysis chambers (the mud puddles) and did some of my usual porewater collection with ceramic-tipped single point samplers. #WomenInSTEM #PostDoc 👩‍🔬 #PoreWater #GHG

Hey #Science #Chemistry people, I had a weird reaction during methyl-blue photometric sulfide analysis. They started purple after reagents were added and reaction time had finished. I analyzed them, put them aside, and after maybe 10 minutes noticed they had turned fluorescent pink.

In case anyone needs a way to upset a #biogeochemist
Listen up science people, if you go through the trouble of taking and reporting chemical data like ion analysis, iron concentrations, salinity, etc in your paper. STOP HIDING IT IN THE SUPPLEMENTAL AND NOT DISCUSSING IT, IT'S IMPORTANT INFORMATION. K, thanks.

The Northern Peatland session BG3.21 is in room N1 (green) and starts at 8:30 Tuesday morning! First presentation is a keynote by my Postdoc advisor Peter Müller at 8:35. The whole session will be great! Hope to see many there!
While I couldn’t make it to #EGU25, you should definitely check out the presentation of my former PhD Sara Anthony on the establishment of sulfate-driven anaerobic methanotrophs in a rewetted coastal peatland on Tuesday. @seanthonysci.bsky.social meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU25/EGU25-...

The past few weeks I've been traveling up and down the German North Sea coast vising Salt Mashes in the Wadden Sea as part of my work with the BMBF-funded project TRICMA2. I'm looking forward to working in the Salt Mashes this summer

I'm officially done with my PhD! I successfully defended on March 21st, and received my degree over the weekend. Here are a few pictures from my defense, with my advisors Prof. Dr. Susanne Liebner and Prof. Dr. Gerald Jurasinski, and one with most of the #BalticTRANSCOAST 3rd cohort PhDs.

I'm happy to announce that I started a new position at the #University of #Münster as a ( #Postdoc) #Researcher in the TRICMA2 project and have submitted my #doctoral #thesis! I know I've been quiet lately, but look forward to more field pics of porewater, this time from #Wadden #Sea salt #marshes!

Hey SPD, why Scholz again? He didn't even last a full term and he's fairly disliked. Is there really no one better available?

Hi! I'm a #biogeochemist and (aspiring) #microbial #ecologist focusing on #methane cycling in #coastal #wetlands. I'm currently in #Germany, but I'm originally from the #PNW. Transitioning from #doctoral candidate at Uni Rostock/Greifswald to #postdoc at Uni Münster. #WomenInSTEM

Now would be a great time for #US #Scientists to look at positions abroad. It's fairly easy to bring and support dependents in #Germany if you have a job that requires a degree. I make enough with my #doctoral #candidate salary to support both me and my husband who isn't working. 👩‍🔬👩🏽‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬 #PhD

I don't understand how more people haven't heard that Oktoberfest in Munich isn't very much fun... I've been once because we were hostig someone who wanted to go. The Volksfest in Stuttgart is so much nicer and the Frühlingsfest in the spring is similar. Plus there are smaller ones everywhere.

I attended and presented at the international Peatland Science Conference organized by the University of Applied Science of Weihenstephan-Triesdorf and the Peatland Science Center in Freising, Germany. It was a great conference and my last one as a doctoral candidate.
