Evergreen tweet: “Everyday I come across more examples of an internet that is increasingly untethered from reality, a hyperreality of interchangeable signs and simulated facts made to fit any world view”

I can literally post this every day it will continue to be applicable
grok citing his failures—repeated near-bankruptcies, rocket explosions, SpaceX failures, Tesla misses, company collapses—as why he’d be the world’s greatest poop eater and piss drinker is 👌
it gets even better

One comment I sometimes get on my chess posts is that it's demotivating to consider getting into chess now, when a computer can more or less easily beat any human. Respectfully, that's never been persuasive to me. A car can outrace any human, but humans still run track. It's about the joy of doing

Reading Baudrillard after 2020: "This man is a provides the key analytical framework to understand our times, and that's why we're screwed."

I followed a guy on Twitter that chained a bunch of ChatGPT calls to create a 50,000 word book—but he never shared why you'd want to read the book… only how many tokens his software processed per second, and how the prompt system could be re-used to write more books (he wouldn't read). Lesson there.

I'm not going to repost any of the insane antisemitic conspiracy bullshit that grok is spewing today, but it highlights how absolutely essentially is that we not let LLMs become a form of epistemic grounding for our society.

I think if you’re a lawmaker calling for U.S. military action against Iran, you should be required to post a verified video of yourself pointing it out on an unlabeled map and offering at least an undergraduate level summary of the past five years of Iranian foreign policy.

i just find this so bizarre. searching through texts and doing the reading for myself is how i actually think through ideas! trying to put together a sentence is how i figure out what i actually want to say!

I will be damned if I allow a bunch of Confederate-waving January 6th apologists give the American people a lecture on flag waving.

There is ZERO reason to enter an argument about patriotism with people who still worship traitors to America 150+ years later.

I've been using Chat GPT on real data sets that I have already analyzed to teach myself how to be a modern pollster. I have created toplines, Xtabs and visualizations, sort of the bread and butter of my work. HOLY SHIT. The mistakes it has made are so shocking that I want to shoot it into the sun
