My favorite classes at Ohio State, and the ones I credit most for helping me to be a well-rounded person, were art history 1500-1950, creative writing, and astronomy. I’m an accountant.

Duffy: “the problem with air travel is that people don’t wear suits anymore!”

Americans: “actually we just want you to protect us from monopolistic and exploitive airline practices.”

Duffy: “this airport needs a chin up bar!”

Penn State and Clemson really did a lot of work this year to boost Texas’s reputation by comparison.

Rewind conferences to 1998 (6 reasonably balanced, regionally representative conferences) and have an 8-team playoff (6 conference champs plus 2 at-large) with the first round being the 4 traditional major bowls with traditional assignments (Big Ten vs. PAC in Rose, SEC in Sugar, etc). Everyone wins

It’s so goddamn infuriating to see the people who’ve benefited the most from America’s openness and multiculturalism trying to close the door behind them (and often using the same type of ahistorical reasoning and ethnic pseudoscience that drove their ancestors out of their original homelands!)

War, famine, disease, and religious/ethnic persecution up to and including genocide: that’s how nearly every white American family came to be here.

The “failed states” and “broken homelands” thing is especially disingenuous. Show me one wave of 19th/20th century European immigration to America from a society that was doing just fine, thank you.

Nothing but love and respect for the capybara, truly a giant in every sense of the word

Yes, but… not Rodentia! Musteloidea. Also, North America whips in this category too (badgers, weasels, minks, and otters are present in both North America and Europe, but only North America has native wolverines, skunks, and raccoons).
November 25, 2025 at 8:36 PM
I just gotta say… I’m taking North American large rodentia over any other continent’s. Beavers, groundhogs, prairie dogs, gophers, muskrats, porcupines… we got it going on. Hats off to our pudgy mammal kings.
