Hi, BlueSky. It's Hillary.

I've joined up here to help get the word out about an important election in Wisconsin tomorrow, and other ways to defend our democracy against those who think votes can be bought.

Musk is trying to create chaos in social security (firing IT workers so servers shut down, closing phone lines) so that he can argue it should be privatized. At 0.5% administrative fee of $1.35T annual SS budget, he and friends would be able to scam $6 billion from the program every year.

I’ve been waiting for someone to realize this is the proper defense. Today’s congress is not fighting Doge, but the people and former congresses enacted laws that Doge needs to follow, even if the current congress doesn’t want to challenge Doge.
Judge Chuang: The Trump admin's "actions harmed not only Plaintiffs, but also the public interest, because they deprived the public's elected representatives in Congress of their constitutional authority to decide whether, when, and how to close down an agency created by Congress."
BREAKING:

A federal judge just found Elon Musk and DOGE likely violated the Constitution when they unilaterally acted to shut USAID.

Judge Chuang blocked the Trump admin from taking action relating to the shut down of USAID and ordered Musk and DOGE to reinstate systems access to USAID employees.

I would bet that Columbia University didn't allow Trump to buy his way to college there like he did at Penn 50 years ago, so he's exacting his revenge on them now.

This is true leadership.

Hell yeah. Hold the line. This is what we need people to do.

Slow things down, don’t comply in advance so the courts have time to stop them. It’s starting to work.
Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

What happens if Musk treats our Treasury, personnel and other systems as ransomware targets and make them inaccessible without his authority? What options would we have other than to capitulate to his demands under threat of the entire U.S. economy cratering? @thekrebscycle.bsky.social

You need to believe him when he says things like this. He does plan for Canada to become part of the U.S. There is no other logical explanation other than to take him at his word. It's time to start believing that this is his real intention.
US official policy is to weaken Canada economically, end Canadian sovereignty and annex Canada to the US

I'd recommend everyone sign up for Wired Magazine subscription as they are covering the current news better and more in-depth than the large newspaper outlets. You can subscribe for $5 for the first year, so definitely worth supporting them.

Corporate leaders who were fine with Trump sadistically imposing mass suffering on vulnerable groups as long as they got their tax cuts deserve every last bit of what this madman is now unleashing on them with these tariffs. Assholes.

@caseynewton.bsky.social It would be awesome if some current employees of X/Twitter were able to corroborate this analysis.
Study linked on Twitter/X : approximately mid-July, the algorithm was modified to subject users to more pro-Trump content whether they sought it or not. Link to the study eprints.qut.edu.au/253211/
