This 12 minute video "Astartes" is a superb piece of visual storytelling. It delivers loads of information without exposition or dialogue, and knows how to tap into Warhammer 40K horror, leaving the viewer with so many interesting questions. Wish I'd seen it sooner.

Another round of edits on Nock Book 2 done. Time to terrify my editor with a "Hi! It's me again!" email.

Fantastic Four 66 & 67 are, technically, the introduction of Adam Warlock, so here we are checking it out for the #jimstarlin re-read.

Taken by themselves, these issues are a cracker of a story.

Okay, NOW I'm interested.
Truth. Justice. Whatever. #Supergirl lands in theaters and IMAX June 26.

Going off-mission on my #jimstarlin read by checking out Fantastic Four 64 & 65 from 1967. Aka why is Captain Marvel on Earth and where did the Kree Sentry that he fights come from? Also, first appearance of Ronan the Accuser!

Night's Rise, the first book in the Black Sun supervillain series, is out now on Amazon!

Shadow powers. A mysterious amulet. And a criminal organization that doesn't forgive mistakes. Adam Hood wanted escape - now he's fighting for survival in Ebon City's underworld.

You either die a hero or live long enough to say this is when we need villains, actually

I find myself overthinking / wildly speculating here on the character concept. Captain Marvel was first published in the middle of the Cold War and not so long after the Red Scare in the US, I think. Must still loom large in cultural memory. 1/2 #captainmarvel
I also like that Mar-Vell is a bit conflicted about being heroic around Earthlings but actually might be given an order to annihilate us all at any time. Awkward.

This was fun. Let's go and look at the Fantastic Four and get further off-mission. 11/11

Thanos is next in Captain Marvel 25. I, being interested in spaced-base Marvel in general and Captain Marvel in particular, have decided to read from the start.

Which is NOT Captain Marvel 1. Don't be like me. Read Marvel Superheroes 12 & 13 first.

Curious about Adam Warlock, I decided to go back and do a big readthrough of Jim Starlin's work on Marvel Unlimited.

So I started with the first appearance of Thanos in The Invincible Iron Man 55, from Feb 1973.
