It's been 13 months since I've had to use Slack or any team chat app. I think there are some interesting Slack alternatives I'd consider using if I need to bridge the gap between email and occasional video meetings, but it's pretty great to not have an app constantly beckoning for attention.

Six months in to a new job and still haven’t used Slack (or any other messaging app) since I started. I know it’s necessary for some, but I love not needing a chat app to get work done.

My favorite part of getting older is how much longer it takes to recover and adjust to seemingly small changes to my sleep schedule. Still struggling with the change to DST. 🫠

Can we be done with this flat design nonsense? I want visual affordances, dang it! I really hate that I have to guess if a thing is interactive. “Oh this random string of text is button” happens way too often, IMO. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

On Tuesday morning when I brushed my teeth, I couldn’t spit the toothpaste out. Then the my eye kept watering uncontrollably. Went to the doctor and I have a case of Bell’s Palsy. For days now, the right side of my face just doesn’t work and it’s the strangest feeling.

I’m a month in to my new job and haven’t used Slack (or any other chat app) once and I don’t miss it at all. I know they’re useful for a lot of teams, but I love having one fewer avenue competing for my attention.

Started a new job last week and my favorite thing, by far, is that we don’t use Slack. Most communication happens through email and it’s awesome.
