Today I learnt Skunk Anansie is not Skunk and Nancy.

I saw a bat fly over York Blvd in Highland Park, which feels like Halloween, but it's just another Friday on the Bat calendar.

I just realised there is a whole generation who only know Robert Redford as the nodding gif guy.

Alien is a movie about truck drivers who veer off the path and encounter something Beyond.

Every prequel diminishes that further into being Wileyland-Coyutani's latest wacky scheme to capture that darn acid-blooded concentric-mouthed Road Runner.
Really obtuse metafictional thing: I wonder if so many people are struggling to lock Alien: Earth, Prometheus/Covenant and the original four movies together in continuity because the void at the centre of Alien as a story is what really terrifies us.

I see there’s a new show called Naked and Afraid: Apocalypse.
Is this just how we market TV in 2025?
What’s next? Deal or No Deal: Late Stage Capitalism? Same show, except even the winner can’t afford daily life.

You can tell Fantastic Four was shot in Britain because none of the bit players could convincingly say "Fantastic" in an American accent.

Listening to John Carpenter's music is the best way to write a satirical slasher.

It's been a productive month of editing, so I’m rewarding myself with sunshine, a bike ride, and even have a smug little halo to show off. 😇 #Writerlife #rexandeddie #writersky #booksky #amwriting

I had a chat with Canvas Rebel about how I started writing Rex and Eddie, and how it evolved into a book series full of chaos, chases, and emotionally stunted British men trying their best.

I've come to accept that city living means the sound of beeping from backing up trucks. In today's episode of 'go outside and find out what that irritating noise is,' I found out UPS trucks now beep when parked. Hey everyone, be careful you don't get hit by this stationary vehicle!

This week, I learned that German Chocolate Cake isn’t German at all. It’s American—named after some bloke called Samuel German. I’m now amused by the idea of people in the US ordering it and feeling a bit continental.

Not a fan of PayPal calling its statements a “Wrap Up.” Spotify Wrapped lets me relive my favourite songs. PayPal just reminds me I can’t spend that money again.

Just wrapped the latest Rex & Eddie mystery at 70,641 words! Book 5 is full of chaos, clues, close calls, and of course, a good dose of questionable detective work.
Can’t wait to share what Rex dragged Eddie into this time.

The good news: I’ve been focused on writing.
The bad news: Still behind on that too.

I loved this mural in my neighbourhood and hope it's successfully restored.
For 50 years, Culver City DMV had an iconic Chicano mural on its walls. Then the state painted over it
Muralist David Botello is now working to get his artwork restored.

I always meant to write a kids’ book for my daughter. Instead, she’s curled up reading the first Rex & Eddie mystery I wrote years ago. Not quite what I imagined, but watching her turn those pages feels special. #WriterLife #RexAndEddie #WriterDad #BookishKids
