This blew me away. I want to wave that opening at people for being so epic.

Thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Fascinating world and fun characters.

I also get spam intended for a movie director who shares my name, so you might be onto something.

I first saw this at the perfect age for it to have a lifelong effect on me.

They do indeed, and at far greater scale. Man, what was even the last thing that happened in the Kang dynasty storyline?

It's so weird to see this happen to a set of movies. Retcons and abandoned storylines are normal enough in comics and franchise novels. Can't think of a time I've seen it in multi-million dollar movies.

And her journey's not over. Nor should it be.

But when Chapel asks her if she's okay, she's still all "There's nothing I'd rather be doing right now than killing Gorn." I really do love this character.

So by the time we get to this episode, it becomes a step on an already in progress healing journey. She needed a nudge (from Pike?) to think of the girl, Oriana, instead of herself, but only a nudge. After that, she was able to contribute to the plan and take a central part in the solution.

Also, Pike is a continuously supportive leader who isn't going to sit there and let one of his crew suffer. Though he's not going to push her harder than he should, either.

I also liked the way La'an's past trauma played into it and was portrayed. La'an started the series traumatised and emotionally locked up. But this is Starfleet and the Federation and they'll have ways to recognise and work through this sort of thing. And we've seen her doing the work.

Update: We agreed to an ever-so-slightly fuzzy cease-fire.

This is the entire reason I own D&D's Libris Mortis, The Book of Undead. Loads of creepy spells and creepier monsters? Yes please!

I tried to think of a funny reply but I saw Faithless in Brighton last night and my brain is knackered. I hope this weird combo of details suffices.
