I think eastenders did a irish special that was quite bad with irish stereotypes a few years back. I do find the lack of knowledge about Ireland in England to be quite shocking overall.

I am living in the uk, and quite a few over here get confused when I tell I don't drink. It doesn't fit in their narrow view on irish people.

Eire is the Irish word for burden. Not the Irish word for Ireland. And that stamp says Éire not eire. Two different separate words.
