The Northern Lights through a few light clouds. Green at the bottom, pink, then purple at the top. A few stars can be seen through the clouds as well.

Of course mermaids are real. You can even see them in the clouds. (1st is my unaltered pic, the 2nd is darkened to show her more clearly.) Sitka is a magical place.

Her hair is blowing to the right, her back is slightly turned toward us with an arm coyly over her chest. Her tail is bent back - she appears to be sitting on it. Same description as the 1st pic, this one has been darkened so the mermaid can be more easily seen.

The light was lovely in Totem Park earlier. We managed a walk during a sucker hole. #Sitka

Two knitting pattern books. "The Doodle Knit Directory" and "Knitovation Stitch Dictionary." Lots of knitted examples on the front of each, making you want to dive in and see the diversity of patterns for color work knitting.

Batten down the hatches SE Alaska. We're in for it. Sitka may or may not escape the brunt of it. I've tied the grill to the deck and put deck chairs, loose pots, etc. in the shed. I still think I'll come home to chaos.
Weather alert showing SE Alaska, Sitka down past Hydaberg, we're all under a red, hurricane force wind warning for tomorrow.

Thanks to @anchistorian.bsky.social, who pointed this out (eBay) on one of his AK history posts! I was able to snatch this baby up for $8 and it will look great on a hair clip. Interesting note: It was mailed from Wichita, KS. I was born and raised 30 miles north of there in Newton. Small world.
A patch for a shirt or jacket, about 4" across. "Sitka, AK" is in red lettering on a puffy white cloud. The back ground is yellow at the center in a circle, then blue, yellow, and finally red thread work (varying heights to make it look a little jagged) that represents the aurora. The whole patch is overcast stitched in bright blue.

Triangular shawl, very long "wings" in shades of autumn. Gold at the tip, then through orange, than red/orange, brown and finally very dark brown. The pattern is repeating skulls in filet crochet. Closeup of the skulls in the pattern. This also shows the progression from gold to dark brown.

I saw these shades of pastel during the winter in the Interior; both the snow and sky. Alaska can be remarkably delicate at times. This was down a Port Alexander, southern tip of Baranof Island, Cape Ommaney. (ie. "Cape Ominous") #Sitka #Alaska
A very calm ocean all in pink, reflecting the pink/pale peach of the sky. There is a bright, full moon in the sky, its trail also reflected in the water. There is a dark, tiny island on the right of the horizon, and and even smaller one in the middle.

A shallow creek/river, very rocky on the left, slight falls of water in the middle of the picture. Dark bodies of salmon are massed together, still pressing upstream. The are swimming up & over the mini-falls. Lush forest growth surrounds the scene.

Sitka's Russian Orthodox Church, which is in the center of downtown. A small, gray/white building with a large copper (turned green with oxidation) steeple and a gold Russian cross at the top. Other downtown buildings can be seen on either side. There is a mountain in the distance on the right, with a rain box arcing down from a cloud studded blue sky.
