Of course mermaids are real. You can even see them in the clouds. (1st is my unaltered pic, the 2nd is darkened to show her more clearly.) Sitka is a magical place.

This brought tears to my eyes. You can feel the emotion come through.

Batten down the hatches SE Alaska. We're in for it. Sitka may or may not escape the brunt of it. I've tied the grill to the deck and put deck chairs, loose pots, etc. in the shed. I still think I'll come home to chaos.

Sitka 73F (22.8C) on Tuesday was a new record high temperature for September 16. This occurred long after sunset as offshore winds brought in very warm air from interior Baranof Island. This is the highest temp of 2025 and is the 4th time since 1948 that the annual max temp occurred in Sept. #akwx

I'm on the first flight out of Sitka's new airport! It's gorgeous (and roomy!) SUCH an upgrade!

I got my very first upgrade on Alaska Airlines for my trip to Fairbanks tomorrow.

1st class for the ONE hour flight from ANC to FAI.

Sigh. So close and yet so far.

Thanks to @anchistorian.bsky.social, who pointed this out (eBay) on one of his AK history posts! I was able to snatch this baby up for $8 and it will look great on a hair clip. Interesting note: It was mailed from Wichita, KS. I was born and raised 30 miles north of there in Newton. Small world.

I received my order from @loxy.bsky.social this weekend and once again, it did not disappoint! I particularly love the new moon earrings. I got the big ones and they are badass. I'm a tall woman, so little earrings kinda get lost on me. These babies really stand out! Thanks again!
