Saw Echobelly on their first tour in 1994 at Coventry Uni when I was 16 and they took the place apart. Still one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to.

Saw Oasis the following week at the same venue and they were (and there’s no polite way of saying this) fucking shite.

Hard agree. A Telecaster is basically the perfect electric guitar and all subsequent iterations of the instrument are basically redundant.

The Old Windmill in Coventry city centre is still known exclusively as Ma Brown’s to its clientele. She ceased to be the licensee in 1932. But there’s a good chance if you ask directions to the Old Windmill, most Coventrians won’t know where you mean.

It’s an interesting article for all sorts of reasons. But the main thing that struck me is how long and well-argued it is compared with anything else in any newspaper today. Not in any way a complaint btw..
