“Many years ago I had the great privilege of meeting Jane Goodall,” recalls Seacology Executive Director Duane Silverstein. “She was and remained an incredibly inspiring person. Her discovery that humans were not the only species to use tools shook the field of evolutionary biology."

Seacology's work with island communities to protect the habitats of orangutans, lemurs, and other endangered primates will continue to take inspiration from the example that she set.

Her steadfast work as an advocate and educator, which continued into her final days, blazed the trail for countless individuals and organizations fighting for the survival of our planet's most threatened species.
