Both countries prohibit antibiotics in milk, but Canada has stricter regulations on antibiotic use in dairy cows.
Most farms in Canada have fewer than 100 cows while the US tends towards larger, industrial-scale operations.

By law, all milk produced and sold in Canada is free from artificial growth hormones (rbST), while in the US, rBST can be used to increase milk supply. The increased use of rbST leads to increases risk of infections including mastitis. This means more antibiotics are required.
