The best way I have thought to express this right now is — you are going to need to have taste to succeed in software engineering more than ever before.
Knowing how to code things is not the skill that will be emphasized as much as having the right taste for elegant solutions to problems.

Your skills development and what a business needs are ideally overlapping as much as possible, but that’s not always the case. Not all businesses are current or asking for bleeding edge work to be done.

Taking personal initiative to be the best at what we do is so important.

I don’t know how to express this without sounding maybe snooty, but it’s not a field where you can ever stand still and rest on your laurels… even for a year

Jobs are rarely going to explicitly require you to stay current and deeply knowledgeable beyond what things the business needs.

So far, a couple months in, we now have several functioning tests on both Android and iOS. A huge number of our most major roadblocks are past us, and we’re adding new ones more easily every session.

We have just arrived yesterday afternoon. It’s a very beautiful and cool city so far and there’s peacocks everywhere around where we are staying.
I have just undergone FFS and need to be gentle to myself so I may not get a chance to fully appreciate the whole experience. Just gentle short walks.
