Tomorrow (Tue 1 July) I’ll be speaking @psioxford.bsky.social #PandemicSciences25 Conference on the Global Governance of Pandemics and Incorporating Science into Law, focusing on our work on the #PandemicAgreement

It’s wonderful to see how much enthusiasm there is for the new treaty.

Something to print and have on my wall
Some advice for trainees:
a) don’t emulate any arrogance and complacency you might observe in your seniors
b) don’t automatically assume that what’s done in England is the best in the world
c) engage with those who are affected by your decisions
d) get out of your lane and make connections

This week’s main story is about the budget and staffing cuts being made to public health agencies in the U.S. under RFK Jr.’s leadership, how those cuts will impact all of us, and some foolproof ideas for what scientists can do in the absence of totally superfluous stuff like, y’know, centrifuges.

The degree if overlap between a AI generated virus and the experimental findings is incredible! One took 5 years, the other 5mins. But really demonstrates how AI can compliment traditional experimental methods, a great presentation from Dr Joe Grove #ukpsn25
