Someone who visited St. Eustatius laid flowers for the Ancestors at the Golden Rock burial ground, the Godet burial ground, and at the Heritage House (where the 69 Ancestral remains of the Golden Rock excavations are stored, awaiting reburial).

Peggy King Jorde was destined to play a part in the civil rights movement. Her father, a prominent lawyer, represented antiracist protesters. She was directly involved in the schools desegregation being one of the first black children in an otherwise all-white school.

Once again, St. Eustatius’ cultural heritage is being destroyed. The battle between preservation of cultural heritage & infrastructure projects continues, despite efforts of the heritage inspector, defending the island’s historic sites on his own.
