Ya, I think we agree on most of this. And I agree it'll never happen.

Back to my initial point of this thread. My comment was more that I don't see how 22-25 teams have a shot at the world series in this model.

More teams can be competitive but a few teams are actually competing for the WS.

Which is why there should be a structure (like a salary cap/floor) that requires owners to spend a set amount of money.

And no one in football talks about the Chiefs payroll.

Because when you have a system in place where everyone is on an even playing field you don't have to argue about which owner should or could spend.

Everyone has equal opportunity to be successful

Not speaking about you specifically complaining, more generally.

I'd Nutting doesn't spend on free agents, he has to spend on players. And if he doesn't he has to cut a check to the players.

That's the way to force owners to spend.

Ya, and the MLBPA will shoot down any form of a cap.

And people will continue to not respect teams like the Dodgers.

This discussion doesn't come up in NBA and NFL circles because there is a system to address it.

Ya, so they should have a cap and a floor so there isn't a problem.

Complaining about Nutting doesn't fix anything. You can require him to spend like every other league.

And this is why you have a salary floor to make those teams spend

We have examples in other sports.

It's signing and retaining free agents.

For example, people are already talking about potential Paul Skenes trades. It's an assumption that he won't stay in Pit.

Conversely, no NBA fan thinks Wemby will leave the Spurs.

It's the system that's the problem.

This is wild when the Dodgers just won the series using the starting rotation which makes over $100 mil per year and a lineup with 3 MVPs.

The Dodgers willingness is because they have a giant TV deal.

This isn't that hard. You can tip your hat to the Dodgers while stating the obvious.

I don't understand why national writers have to do this every year.

The Dodgers and NY teams have a huge advantage because of their TV deals (and other revenue streams).
Saying 22-25 teams can compete is absurd.

That doesn't take away that the Dodgers had to take care of business on the field.

How is ABS going to measure it next year?

Love this! I actually liked the nicknames. It was a fun change of pace.

He pulled Randy Vasquez on Saturday when he had thrown only 67 pitches. Vasquez had only given up 1 hit.

He'll pull the young guys, not the vets.

Gambling will always be a part of Sports.

Professional leagues have added jet fuel, which is the problem.

Get rid of prop bets. Don't run daily betting ads. Stop running money lines in pre game segments.

There are ways to make the player's lives easier.

Notable that MLB alternated calls in that tribute, and edited around Vin Scully saying “A Black man is getting a standing ovation in the Deep South for breaking a record of an all-time baseball idol.”
