And then you go and do stuff that's very obviously sketchy, and seem *surprised* when these people notice and start making assumptions?

The Epstein stuff has been an albatross around Trump's neck since at least the spring. A good chunk of his base has been fed conspiracy theories for a decade, and they started noticing how hard Trump was working to keep this under wraps months ago.

Now his name is in Epstein's emails.

But that base has been fed a diet of rabid conspiracy theories about pedophiles in the government. And now it seems, as the saying goes, "the calls were coming from inside the house."

In short, you're fucked.

You know, in a proper country, you'd expect behavior like this would at *least* result in the officer in question being fired, if not face criminal charges.

Shame we don't live in one of those.

A part of me really wants to know if he *actually* believes these stories. Like, he tells them to himself enough times that he *convinces* himself that they're true.

There's plenty of people who will pay lip-service to various faiths but are actually devout Capitalists.

There *are* ways he could do it, and they're harder to counter, but they take *time* and *effort*, and he can't just order it on a whim.
