Trying to get inside the head of a nurse…
One who worked 80 years ago in occupied Guernsey.

I’m a nurse too. But her world? Nothing like mine.

No electronics. Often no electricity. No dressings. Few medicines. Little food.
Just instinct, and decisions no one could train for.

Morning,
I’m running a free session at the PEH, in conjunction with the lit fest, for would-be writers and those trying to get published/interested in self publishing. Places are limited and you need to book. Here’s the link.
Thanks

One of the best views in the island, and there’s a compact and bijou property for sale too 👀 #Guernsey #CHOG

It’s a good job writers never believe what they read or I’d be in search of a bigger hat!
Truly amazed by the latest review. Amazed and delighted. ‘A beautiful heart-rending book I wouldn't have missed for the world’.

My friend has just sent me a holiday snap. Tempted to send her one back of me huddled in my dressing gown 🤣

I went into the Red Cross to drop off some pictures and came out with Lisa Jewell book I haven’t read and a silver ring for my daughter 😩 I don’t think I told you that she was burgled over Christmas and had all her jewellery stolen? I’m helping her rebuild her collection.

Seeing the final version of something I produced never gets old. It’s worry from here on in, as it starts to find readers but, today, it’s all mine!

Ta da!
I’m delighted to share the cover of The Book of Lost Children. Set in Guernsey during the occupation and inspired by true events, this took three months of research before I put pen to paper. Available to pre-order 👇

A busy day. Writing isn’t only about getting words down. Only 1k written but arranged a literary festival appearance, did some research and some prep for tomorrow’s cover reveal. A shift as it’s my first historical 🙏but not my last.
