An artist like a vampire, Sometimes I create.
Also the second driver clearly being a vampire (with his smile showing sharp white teeth, and his grip of steel on the protagonists arm) who can simply shoo a whole pack of wolves away was pretty cool.

I don’t agree with the message and there could have been greater detail on the beings life, but basically the book was pretty good regardless. Also it was remarkable easy to read for how old it is, the language is pretty modern and each chapter is only like ~10 pages, so it’s paced pretty well.

But that’s the thing, the beings behaviors make sense, peoples coping mechanisms and behaviors are informed by their environment and treatment obviously he’d become violent when attacked on sight multiple times, but then the message glosses over the fact that that is inherently human.

And then he’s like oh no I made a daemon, how horrible a crime against humanity I have committed. Like yeah abandon your child to go live like an animal in the forest without any society or real human interaction and maybe they won’t quite act like a person you idiot.

Like before creating the being, he only talked to like two people outside of his childhood family and friends (both of which were professors), he was also like 21 maybe, I can’t imagine he was in any way prepared to raise a child much less a 8 foot tall mismatched man child made of corpse parts.

It’s kinda saying that trying to understand humanity from a creation standpoint is wrong, I think Victor’s greatest failing was that he himself just didn’t understand people and thus didn’t do what was necessary for the being to grow into a person.

This cover art is awesome, is the book good? (Did you read it?)

I’m pretty sure the next chapter maybe shakes this up a little, but I like the character writing of the book, that has thus far been its strong point for me. (The theming and style is also really good)

I like how Victor has at the point that I’m at in the book become drenched in this sin they feel they’ve committed and feels it their duty to keep doing the same thing that fit them where they are like their chained up and can’t see a brighter future anymore for their fear and trauma.

I haven’t read the next chapter where he will tell his own story and I think it’s being very obvious about Frankenstein fucking up everything up to this point, I don’t really need to have studied psychology to see that. My perspective could change, there’s another half of the story to go after all.

I was wrong it was the preface
(i have not read any Wikipedia articles about her) which laid out a little of her life story and about some of the stuff she wrote, that is what is what is provoking my curiosity. The preface is definitely shaping how I interpret what she put in the story.

*It has been awhile since I read or watched Fullmetal Alchemist

I believe I read Mary Shellys Wikipedia page however and this may be causing me to think more about what she must have been thinking/feeling/wanting when she wrote this story, that could be a good way to enjoy the book but it may also be bad, I’ll figure that out by the time I have finished it.

This is not the most useful bit of information to learn about but as someone with an interest in the human kinds of studies this sort of difference in writing either due to what the author finds important or what the readers (audience) find(s) important is interesting to me.

I notice that manga (co)authored by women place a greater emphasis on relationships of the characters than those written by or for (young) men, (most notably The Shonen genre, though maybe this is just an observation on my part due to branching outside of Shonen).

I enjoyed the prelude with the 4 letters setting the context in which the story is being told. I may post my thoughts on it here as I read it.
