Pitbull Puppy Update: It started raining here, and I guess the neighbors didn’t know what to do with their dog so they surrendered him at the pound. He’s such a good boy. I’m going to try and pick him up tomorrow to foster him.

Every time I think too much about ice cream, I think about Maurecia’s chapter in the children’s book Sideways Stories from Wayside School.

It’s hard to choose one, but this is probably my favorite story in the whole book.
The chapter starts by introducing Maurecia, a girl who likes ice cream who is sweet and pretty and can beat up any boy in Mrs. Jewls's class. Everyone likes Maurecia, except Kathy, but Maurecia only likes ice cream. The narrator says that every day for lunch, Maurecia would bring an ice cream cone and keep it in her desk. She tries all kinds of different ice cream flavors, from chocolate to pistachio, but eventually gets tired of them all and decides that she no longer likes ice cream. At that point, her desk is sticky and she is unhappy. She complains to Mrs. Jewls about her problem, who hates seeing her so unhappy. Mrs. Jewls decides to get to work making a new flavor that she might like, inventing a new ice cream flavor overnight, named after Maurecia herself. She figures that since everyone likes Maurecia, it will be the best flavor of all. However, when Maurecia tries it, she says it doesn't taste like anything at all, even though everyone else in class thinks it's delicious. Mrs. Jewls realizes her mistake; Maurecia can't taste Maurecia-flavored ice cream because it's the taste that she tastes when she's not eating anything. She decides to instead make ice cream flavors named after the rest of the classmates, such as Joe and Ron, which are tasteless towards the students they're based off of but delicious to Maurecia. Eventually, Mrs. Jewls produces 27 new flavors of ice cream, and Maurecia likes all of them except for Kathy, who apparently "tastes like old bologna". Everyone likes Maurecia, and Maurecia likes everyone. Everyone likes Maurecia's flavor the best, but Maurecia seems to like Todd's flavor the best. It is revealed that this could become a little bit of a problem, because she ends up biting Todd's arm every so often to see if she can get the same taste.

Finally some cool mornings and I wake to find Hash Brown snuggled between me and a side pillow. This is how I know it’s fall, my cutie baby going full cuddle buggy.
