3) The effort is the juice! The effort is the high! Mastery of a skill is an unparalleled buzz. "Having written" is nice yes, we all joke about that, but *the making is the pleasure*. Men who've never experienced that, trying to steal it because ironically *they do not know its value*, is a sin.

2) That adrenaline dump, the release when you're done, or where I was today, looking at my watch, thinking I was running out of time but only an hour had passed, in complete flow state, just hacking away at sentences, solving problems, and we both said: "Why would you give that up?"

my mom read it first and was like OH HELL NO and gave me her old Georgette Heyer books instead, I think it was a win for both of us

ignore the bog of hands reaching out to pull you down into this feeling of worthlessness, they are fake. they are an illusion. the only truth is that we are ALL the greatest, and the real journey is simply an internal one where we finally arrive at knowing this

me! especially if I find the flesh-eating monster super compelling despite (or because of???) the whole flesh-eating thing. I mean, I don't want my monster friend to starve... anyway I'll buy it if you write it (and tysm for Someone You Could Build a Nest In, I think of it almost daily 💜)

The biggest reason why I dislike the idea of respectability in dress is because it conflates the *appearance* of virtue with *actual* virtue. Wearing a suit doesn't make you respectful, intelligent, or capable, just as wearing a leather jacket doesn't make you rugged.

Realistically, what's happening is that people advocate for Dems to do a thing and then hope it will work when the Dems follow suit. When it doesn't actually work, they'll then assume that either the Dems Did It Wrong, or that they're malicious. But they did everything right here.

They did what you called for. Stood united. Moved heaven and earth to be there and *be* united. Instead of taking the W and claiming that your advocacy worked in pushing the Dems, some people are intent on deepening their doomerism and not realising they're doing propaganda for Trump in the process.
