I’m a college writing professor, and the #XPNCountdown always coincides with the end of the semester when I’m reading and grading student projects. I’m hoping to earn at least a solid C this year on my Top 10 list of the Greatest Covers Songs. Looking forward listening, @wxpnfm.bsky.social!

YES! I live in Philadelphia and listen to WXPN Monday through Friday but stream WNCW every weekend for the bluegrass and classic country. Grassroots Radio!

I actually $upport *two* radio stations: WXPN here in Philly and WNCW based out of Spindale, North Carolina, which plays great bluegrass and classic country on the weekends — and provides great member gifts too.

As we were leaving the Free at Noon show, my wife said, "It must feel so cleansing to scream like that." And then @rahrahraina.bsky.social opened the World Cafe MP episode with the line, "When you want to scream, where do you go? . . . Mannequin Pussy frontperson Missy Dabice went to the stage."

So happy Mannequin Pussy made several of these Top 10 lists. Ever since John Vettese played two of the songs on the Local Show back in January, I've been hoping this album would make the 2024 MEGA List. Their Free at Noon concert and Union Transfer show were musical highlights of the year for me!

We visited the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville a few years ago. It's not pictured here, but there's an exhibit devoted to Cash's final album. The "Hurt" video played on a loop, and our oldest kid was mesmerized. He even referenced that museum trip last night when "Hurt" came on the #XPNCountdown.

Those two kids are now 17 and 15 and both submitted #XPNCountdown Top 10 lists this years, as did their 12-year-old brother, who was the only one to have “Seven Nation Army” on his list. All three kids had a higher percentage of their Top 10 lists make the countdown than did their old man, too.
