Sixteen games don't make a career, but through 20 percent of the Blackhawks' season, Bedard is experiencing a major breakthrough.

As good as Connor Bedard was on the Blackhawks' road trip, there were plenty of other standouts. @marklazerus.bsky.social on five of them: www.nytimes.com/athletic/679...

Another strong weekend for Blackhawks goalie prospect Adam Gajan. He stopped 46-of-48 shots in Duluth's sweep of St. Cloud State. He's 10-2-0 with a .925 save percentage this season.

As @marklazerus.bsky.social writes, "Connor Bedard is always the story." And on this road trip, Bedard's story has been remarkable.

Blackhawks prospect Mason West delayed playing hockey this year to chase a goal of winning a state football title. After last night's upset win, he and Edina HS are two wins away from that dream.

My story from earlier this year on West playing football: www.nytimes.com/athletic/666...
The NHL can wait. This Blackhawks prospect is chasing his high school football dreams

From the aggressive steal to the burst of speed to the brilliant move to the Jordanesque celebration, Connor Bedard's goal last night was his season in microcosm — a sign of just how far he's come, and just how far he can go.

The Blackhawks probably turned to Oliver Moore sooner than expected from Rockford this season. But to Moore's credit, he's used his speed all over the ice and been finishing at a high rate with the IceHogs.

This is the Blackhawks' longest road trip since the last circus and ice-show trips in 2016-17. For the young guys, it's their first really long roadie.
