Crossed a younger pahoehoe flow on the way out. Though it looks hellish and is rough on the boots, it's relatively easy and safe to cross compared to other parts of the BLB.

The LIDAR said it was much the same for another 1/4 mi but that was enough adventure for my old bones. Found a way up and out after a while. Very cool stuff; let the bears have it! I wish the BLB were a protected wilderness, before they find unobtainium or some such under it.

Had to pass through a short but high cave, ~20 yds. Was able to get a good look at it, stable, safe; bears went through it, so...

It was all the spooky I was looking for: a deep, shady, dripping, overhanging slot canyon; tough to reach; tougher to get out of; a bear trail the length of it. Had to chuck the stick a couple times to have all fours for climbing

Instead, I went out on the Big Lava Bed to explore a big crevice - from shrinkage I think, not a tube - that I paced along the top of back in July, one of the biggest of its kind on the BLB.

Seems to be done. A quiet sunset.

Fourth trip. Watched it ascend out of Goose. Still no smoke. Just weird.

I'm in Indian Heaven, above Forlorn/Goose, but I can't see it well.
