And here we are…
Graduate seminar did a deep dive on Thomas Paine’s Common Sense yesterday. At the line, “in America the law is king,” they (14 students from 6 countries) burst out laughing. I've been doing this for 35 years and this is the first time that was a laugh line.

If these “Seven Social Sins” were meant as a warning 100 years ago, our century seems intent on treating them as a to-do list.

I seem to recall that it was the biggest 1st Amendment attack in American history when the Biden admin alerted social media companies to some content and said "hey does this violate your policies?" Will Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger and (lol) CBS News Editor in Chief Bari Weiss call this out?

This right here ⬇️
If you rename the Department of Defense the Department of War, then bomb fishing boats in the Caribbean, and shoot an unarmed priest in the head with a pepper bullet, you should automatically be barred from receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for the rest of your life.

Emily Deschanel’s commencement address at Boston University this year touched on the topic of empathy.

When we consider what others might be enduring and show them understanding and grace, along with the generosity of our time and attention, we give them a priceless gift.
