Yes, people debate where “normal” lies with ferritin & even with a little inflammation it can be falsely elevated. I’m glad you respond to iron sups & feel better. My wife also had a lot of mild but annoying symptoms that disappeared with iron supplements (her ferritin was 9 tho, so quite low).

Not a stupid question & one the authors of this paper point out in their discussion. Testing for iron deficiency can be tricky, but the bottom line is that iron deficiency is completely under recognized.

Although there are few organizations I loathe more than the ABP, I keep it mainly because I want to keep options open. I maintain 2 others, so at that point, keeping a 3rd as a security blanket seems like not such a big lift.

Yup, went to med school in PDX. Can confirm oral health is terrible there, and it disproportionately affects those with low income and children. Conservative estimates show the cost of not fluoridating the water is in the millions of dollars per year range. Sad…and stupid.

I’m confused by these responses. What’s the big deal? I was talking books w a kid & I gave him one he hadn’t read but expressed interest in. I didn’t make a big deal over it. It’s kind, and it’s just a book. You’re allowed to be a human.
