How do you know the fate of the US is far from determined? How about a humble airport disclaiming responsibility for the propaganda video playing twenty feet away. You don’t see that in Hungary

It’s overblown - for the moment- but I keep thinking of all the historical situations when legislatures are kept from meeting and the often unpredictable results of recalling them

Really impressed by talk from Heidi Miller, Missouri CMO. Highlighted underinvestment in prevention & primary care and siloing (local fragmentation, professions, specialization) and politicization

Very predictable: the U of M traffic lights/ camera arrays outside Ruthven, justified as improving bus flow, induced a lot of private cars onto N University and now they are creating a traffic snarl at the stop signs that… slows the buses. But at least we inconvenience innumerable pedestrians now!

I’m sorry for the people who work at UChicago but its rake-stepping crypto-bro leaders are pretty funny, even before you think about the linkages with their famous economic ideology.

✅ clog pedestrian thoroughfare in central campus between dorms and classrooms
✅ huge ugly 🚷
✅ enable private cars in congested area
✅ big surveillance camera arrays on top (outside admin building, huh)
✅ pay university police and security to enforce it against undergrads running to class
Go blue!

The churchyard of Cooling, in Kent, England. Those ten tiny gravestones were made famous by Dickens. They are a nice picture of childhood in a world without vaccines.

Example: this giant new car-enabling setup, which slows student movement between dorms and classes, and has two huge camera assemblies on top(the white rounded buys). Conveniently right outside the administration building. Message sent.

That’s a *lot* of debt.
(While it confirms Chicago’s vulnerability, it does raise extra questions about the behavior of a Penn or Columbia)

I think they looked at last year’s race riots and concluded that while it was pretty easy to start them, the public didn’t like violent mobs attacking children and police. So this year, the idea is to prepare the public more thoroughly so riots polarize opinion to Conservative/ Reform benefit.
