Small town councillor, affordable housing advocate, kidney donor, and reader of way too many insufferably pretentious books.
"My dearest Martha,
My hope is that when you read this missive, that as a member of the 13th Multnomah Furry Division, I stood honorably in the field of war afore our enemy. The Unipiper is calling us to battle, and I must away and do my part, thrusting, in the great melee.
Your husband,
Reginald"

Those in the West who believe peace can be secured by surrendering Ukraine to Russia fundamentally misunderstand the hierarchy in Putin’s thinking: the destruction of Ukraine is a tactical objective, not the strategic aim of his war. 8/9

Fascinating hypothetical #12736
The Conservatives won the popular vote in the previous federal election, but failed to do so yesterday.
They lost a ton of seats in 2021 because of the efficiency of the Liberal vote, yet in this election they gained seats owing to weakness of NDP incumbents.

I found this document on the government's website, looking at historical taxation rates. See page 4.
Highest income tax bracket (above $4 500 000 in today's dollars) 80%.
Corporate taxation above $230 000 in today's dollars: 47%.

Dear Mayor Trump:
🍎🍏🍎
(Seriously though, it was a great game, and the real winners were hockey fans across the globe. Well played Americans, that was a great game and you can hold your heads high. So proud of our team, and great to see McDavid score the winning goal. And I'm a Canucks fan.)

Hey local gov folks:
I'm putting forward a motion for our council to ask all contractors to voluntarily disclose all beneficial ownership when applying for a contract.
In the event that the winning bid isn't Canadian owned, the next bid is included for a council decision.

How sad is that that a trade war with America is my first post on this platform...
Oh well. Better days ahead, one can hope.

While I'm glad most of our country is united in defending ourselves against unprovoked tariffs from Trump, I remain concerned that we can be even more strategic in our response.
There are 8 states with Senate mid-terms in 2026 that border Canada, and that's where our leverage is located.
