Expected better from The New Yorker than a short sighted op-ed / reaction piece.

An article on the history of this bizarre concept where *individuals* are able to grant clemency would be more appropriate. Either way, to me it seems more a relic of monarchy that should be replaced by a council.

I dunno, I could see that if they were started on Inland Empire but Mulholland Drive is probably the best showcase of Lynch doing what he does so well. It doesn’t go too far off the rails (just enough!) and isn’t as intense / violent or just outright weird as some of his others.
