It’s rare these days but some breaking GOOD news- the BLM is canceling the very controversial 42 Divide Timber Sale Project in Southern Oregon (for now). Oregon environmental groups were “all in” to fight this project & the EA produced was so shoddy

The next paragraph seems to kneecap the directive. The NW Forest Plan was on track to increase logging but its fate remains undecided. If not updated, the older ASQ would still remain which is less.

Sad to see this inholding in the Willow Flats area on the Umpqua National Forest get logged. It’s bordered by 275+ yr old old-growth. One of my favorite areas in the North Umpqua now will have a clearcut scar

The Mt Hood National Forest is scoping the Stone Creek Vegetation Management project in the Timothy Lake area. It proposes several treatments that seem contrary to the Scenic Viewshed allocations in that area. Scoping comments are due 1/3/2025

With winter off to a good start, I’m obsessing with what my winter time lapse is capturing. I set up my camera here a month ago on a ridge at about 6,000’ in the southern Oregon Cacscade range.

I’ve set up a Eufy wifi security camera for that. It’s wireless so you just bring it inside to recharge every now & then
