Hello, friends! After 10(!) years of #AdventOfCode, I've made some changes to preserve my sanity: there will be 12 days of puzzles each December (still starting Dec 1) and there is no longer a global leaderboard. Read more:

Another little side project I finally took the time to tackle, a small helper for checking my repos for outdated GHA dependencies.

Yes, Dependabot can do this but it's a bit more noise than I need. Plus, it was fun to figure out for myself!

McMaster-Carr CS is amazing. Realized I made a mistake on an order within a minute of placing, requested a change, and they responded a minute later. It's 8pm!

"Have a question, comment or need assistance? Send us a message. We will get back to you within an hour."

They're not playing around...

I've also been keeping myself entertained by going through the EA version of David Kopec's Computer Science From Scratch. It covers some really interesting topics that I mostly haven't explored before, including an NES emulator!

It's been a lot of fun & 100% recommend

Got a new offline-only computer at work recently and ran into some annoyances getting offline installers for my VSC plugins and Python packages, so I made some tools to help myself out!

I'm sure things exist but it was fun to work out for myself 😀

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

Continuing on my "fun hooks on a lark" journey, had an idea to make a hook to check a package's supported Python versions and fail if an EOL Python release is supported. Still have some things I'd like to work on but initial functionality was pretty straightforward!

Threw together a quick hook to help me remember to start swapping my license metadata around now that the license classifiers have been deprecated by PEP639.

Seems to work alright for my own stuff so far!
