Glorious colours, strange shapes, how 'different from normal' can be so attractive.

We had a remarkably clear sky all day, not a cloud in sight, I think. The sky was blue after sunset, apart from a strong orange glow along the south-western horizon.

If your church life is too busy, maybe you need to dwell on these excellent thoughts from 'Aforgetfulsoul'. She really digs deep and comes up with a great solution to a common issue. Only the Holy Spirit can make difficult things simple like this!

Unless I have another seizure, I won't be posting about them daily. It's over two weeks since I had one so I'll report progress once a week from now on, every Sunday, probably. If I'm still in the clear at the end of December I'll drop to reporting monthly.

All good so far 👍

A nice dry day is forecast, but it's still cloudy so there's no hope of seeing an aurora in the next day or two. At least, not from anywhere near Cirencester. And there's heavy light pollution in the area too.

I won't be walking far today, it's been raining non-stop all day so far and now it's dark at 16:30. I might have something better to write tomorrow, looks as if it should be dry at least. If I can make it to 11:00 am without a seizure that'll be a full 2 weeks without a hint of anything. 👍 Yay!

I'm reposting this from a year ago today. I've been on Bluesky quite a while now, and I'm loving it.What a great place to hang out!

I posted my Season's Greetings message on JHM earlier today. Whatever you are doing, and wherever you are this winter, go in peace, with joy and great encouragement. See more at jhm.scilla.org.uk/2025/11/10/s...
Season’s Greetings 2025
The UK is a rich mix of people from many cultural backgrounds. That’s why the title is not ‘Christmas Greetings’. Please accept the greetings and replace the word ‘Season’ with whatever you like.…

We had a visit from my sister Cindy, my nephew Gavin, and his partner Donna. Lovely to see them, Gavin and Donna are visiting from upstate New York. He gave me a great CD music album 'Whisky River by Dram Fools, just Gavin and his friend Bob - they're good!

Wow! One of the most intense rainbows I've ever seen has just appeared! Really awesome. Gone now but brilliant for a couple of minutes.

Just had a very useful discussion with my GP, Dr Tiffney. Still no hint of further symptoms following my subarachnoid bleed (ministroke). Free of symptoms for 10 days now. Very encouraging 🙂.

I've hit a new record in my TIA recovery - it's now more than a week since I last had any symptoms. The TIA was on 16th October in the afternoon. Symptom counts were 3 on 16th, then 3, 3 or 4 most days for a while, 2 on 23rd , 1 on 26th, 1 on 29th, and the most recent at 11:00 am on 31st. Yay! 🙂

These autumn leaves are from a Ginkgo biloba 'living fossil' tree in West Way, Cirencester, just where it joins Cricklade Street.

Today is 7th November, my most recent symptoms following my TIA were very mild and were on 1st November. At first they were much more noticeable and were happening up to four times a day, so that's very welcome progress.

Life, death, resurrection
Unlike life, death is stable. It’s not often that you see a dead body come alive again. That would be resurrection, it’s not something that we expect to see happening regularly (or at all)!

Update on my medical condition - After a recent week in hospital with a minor bleed on the surface of my brain, the symptoms of weakness and numbness on my left side have reduced from 3 or 4 times a day to weak signs once every 2 to 3 days. And otherwise I'm feeling completely fit and well now.

Looking through some old #photos to use on 'Journeys of heart and mind', I spotted these glorious, #autumn, #beech leaves, taken in #November 2010 in #StNeots.

My symptoms from the small bleed I had between my skull and brain have faded away very dramatically now. Nothing so far today, and nothing yesterday or the day before either. On 26th October I had numbness (but no muscle weakness) just before bedtime. This is very encouraging.

What a difference it makes when different wavelengths are chosen to form an image!
Scientists don’t use ordinary cameras to capture space—they use data. In #PhotonicsFocus, discover how invisible wavelengths turn telescopic data into vivid images of temperature, composition, and structure. 🌌 #astro #photonics

Today was a special day. The minor symptoms of my microstroke have improved, my daughter Beth and her family are here, and a train has appeared in Cirencester Town Station, closed in 1964. I remember travelling in a diesel railcar like this one, it ran several times a day to the main line at Kemble.
