T&E also note that using only 3% of the land presently devoted to biofuels for solar instead could deliver the same energy. Biofuels are on track to add ~70 MtCO₂e/year by 2030, equivalent to the annual emissions of ~30 million diesel cars. 3/3

New analysis by the European Federation for Transport and Environment (T&E) finds that, globally, crop-based biofuels emit ~16% more CO₂ than the fossil fuels they replace, once land-use change and deforestation are considered. 2/3
