Biofuels were meant to reduce emissions — but recent evidence shows they’re doing the opposite.
New data suggest that crop-based biofuels are worsening CO₂ emissions globally. 🧵1/3

What is more shocking?
1. Throwing soup on a glass protecting a Van Gogh’s painting
2. Destroying a Banksy mural
🤔
Destroying political art is on the slippery slope towards fascism. All of them have done it.
They may be saying they need to protect judges, but this isn’t the way.

However the PRA still states that no new capital requirements will be imposed on top of what is required now. This allows banks and insurance firms to continue enabling oil and gas expansion projects with impunity, burning the planet and the economy. 9/10

The IFoA also said the global economy could face a 50% loss in GDP between 2070 and 2090, unless immediate policy action on risks posed by the climate crisis is taken.

The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) is the UK's only body dedicated to educating and regulating actuaries (professionals who measure and manage risk). They reported the 'risk of ruin' – the point beyond which our global society can no longer successfully adapt to climate change. 5/10

Signs were held stating "Climate tipping points = economic risk. Stop new fossil fuels, capital requirements now". Introducing capital requirements for fossil fuel assets could strongly discourage firms from holding them by increasing costs.4/10

Currently, insurance and banking sectors are enabling new fossil fuel projects, contradicting scientific consensus and economic logic. These projects are driving climate tipping points which threaten devastating economic collapse. 3/10

Only some science is useful in war:
“Where science seemed able to serve, eg chemistry (weapons) or anthropology (anti-Semitic doctrines), experimental physics (aeronautics, ballistics, weaponry) it did so. But until almost the eve of war, nuclear physics did not appear to be much use to anybody”

Richard Tice also claimed that the IPCC authors are talking ‘total garbage’. This demonstrates their anti-science vested interest agenda.
Bringing this to the attention of voters pushed down Reform’s popularity and “was the only message to significantly reduce willingness to vote for Reform”.

Who actually thinks about what sea level rise means?
Sea level, on average, has risen some 10cm in the last 30 years or so. It’s now rising at 3.9mm per year, compared to 10 years before that when it was 2.5mm per year.
What are the implications for the average person?
