Generative AI didn't have to be like this. It would be possible to develop AI based on consensual access to works that gives proper credit, that has better controls, that is better regulated, etc.

The problem is a paradigm of capitalism, colonialism, extractionism, and opposition to regulation.

Sorry to hear about your loss (of the family member as they formerly were). I recently witnessed this when my MIL moved in after hip surgery. We knew she had early dementia. After she died, we looked back & her worsening behavior made sense. Hang in there ❤️💔
