I replace one of those “reserve batteries” a few months ago on a Pentium laptop. It was not an enjoyable process, but it did work! And the new battery holds BIOS settings for weeks!

Did replacing the SID socket involve desoldering the old socket and replacing with a new one? I have a “socketless SID” C64 (with failing SID) and am curious how difficult desoldering a SID is 🙂
