Yes, I think the contours of her framework (as well as those of many other cognitive scientists) are not intrinsically antagonistic to realist perspectives. That she or others would be hesitant to adopt them is a purely philosophical choice, not a necessary implication of the work itself.

Ok let's not get too distracted. I think it’s fair to say we all agree John Anderson was wrong in that clip (regardless of whatever else one may think about McGilchrist or his work).

Yes, it takes a little bit of homework to track down and confirm, but so far they do all check out.

He’s difficult to refute, given the extensive citations he provides from within the field. There’s not so much disagreement on the facts, as an unwillingness to follow him into the more speculative conclusions he draws, concerning topics like cultural change and metaphysics. Which is understandable

As I’ve come to find out, Spezio’s paper isn’t really representative of McGilchrist’s reception in academic circles.

It’s primarily those aspects that correspond to a superficial (idealistic) sort of postmodern outlook that he seems most critical of. Much could be said (and indeed has been said) on that point. The more balanced aspects he certainly does support.
